Prague to Vienna

Hi everyone,

I would like to go to Prague/Vienna for a total of eight days- traveling as a family with a toddler and my hubby- what is the easiest way for us to get to vienna

Thanks Maria

train will be better than bus - it will be more expensive but then on a 3.5 hour journey, at least your toddler can wonder around

Maria,

I did this two summers ago. We spent 4 days in prague and then 4 in Vienna. The train from Prague to Vienna was very pleasant. It left Prague at 8AM and arrived in Vienna at about noon.

One thing, Vienna is Wein. In the train station I was confused looking for the train to Vienna. Just in case you didn%26#39;t know that, hopefully I can save you a few minutes of confusion!

|||

but then prague is also praha

|||

Yes exactly,

That is very useful if she were taking the train from Vienna to Prague.

As an American it was something I didn%26#39;t think of and created some confusion for me in the train station in Prague.

Try this website for prices... it%26#39;s 593 CK.. so about 29 US. See if you can book through them... Pendolino/SuperCity is what I took from Praha to Wien.. 20 Euros.

Once you get to Vienna, don%26#39;t you have to take a subway to the city center when the train makes it%26#39;s final stop?

|||

Yes, you%26#39;re usually dropped at the south train station ..sudbanhof. It%26#39;s about 15 euros to the center. Of course there is public transporation as well from the train station - trains/trams/buses.

|||

take the metro from sudbahnhof to the centre. vienna metro is even more efficient and easy to use than in prague

|||

Hmm. Okay. What about a cab? Would it be a rip off?

|||

just don%26#39;t do the conversion of euros to dollar when you pay... and then it%26#39;ll be a ripoff for a ten minute ride :-) i only took a cab because i was tired and had somewhat heavy luggage with me. If you can handle taking your luggage around then use public transporation! post something in the vienna forum for best way to get to your hotel ...
