Night time/bars/disco

HI are bars open 24 hours in Brno, how about clubs? what else in general is open 24 hours? thanks

You will find pretty much what you want open 24 hours, but usually only the dregs of society require such places - they are well signposted with %26#39;NON-STOP%26#39; outside - there is one by the Ceska tram junction, but it isn%26#39;t very nice. You could always try the railway station platform 1, where beer and sausages are served pretty much non-stop.

Of course, the brothels are mostly open 24 hours (I reckon), but your pocket will be considerably lighter if you choose to stay in there for more than a couple of hours :)

If you want to know about clubs and bars that are open late, then try Charlies Hat on Koblizna street - it is a bit difficult to find the entrance but you can%26#39;t go wrong when you find it and stays open until morning. In fact most places stay open until the last person has gone.

For a bit more sleaze you can try Tabarin on Divadelni 3 - a bit of a meat market.

You might think that the city is a bit quiet, but that is because most of the city nightlife is underground in the medieval catacombs.

Just be careful - neither the locals or the police take kindly to groups of noisy drunken foreigners (or anybody) wandering the streets late at night as the whole city is a residential area and you might end up in the cells!

hang on - your last post on another forum states that you don%26#39;t go out much and only go to classical concerts ???

|||

GCEK, that is correct, i was just curious because i didn%26#39;t see that many people out at weekends and found it strange the city was so quiet? but now you have said it is all underground i understand, but i didn%26#39;t see it? the latest i was out was 11.00pm and sadly most of the bars i walked in i had to leave as it was so smokey, they haven%26#39;t brought any smoking bans in yet.

|||

aha - 11.00 is %26#39;going out time%26#39;, and then only on Fridays. Before then people will go to the local until closing time and then on from there. There is always somewhere to go.

On Saturdays many people go to the country house so it is a bit quieter.

I forgot to mention %26#39;Livingstone%26#39; pub - younger, studenty crowd. Obviously more busy during term-time.

Thanks for your help, appreciate it.

My student days are long gone, i did notice a lot of young people out and about. Where is the country club? I am hoping to go out again in November.

|||

Not country club! - many families have their own little (or large) house in the countryside where they go at weekends/holidays to escape the city or to grow vegetables.

Well i returned back from Brno at the weekend. First time i have travelled during winter and it was freezing. I did not go out in the evening, as i was out most of the day.

It is a lovely place, it%26#39;s just a pity people find it necessary to spit out phlegm and the place is covered on the pavements, why on earth don%26#39;t they spit in the gutter? it is really disgusting and your city is not the only one that does this filthy habit.

The other thing is i walked past the bus station opposite the Grand, what a stink of urine!!! again disgusting, why can%26#39;t you find a toilet like normal people? it is disgusting...my cat uses a litter tray, so it goes to show and animal is better trained than a human being. It%26#39;s a pity spit and urine cover this beautiful place, and i know you are not the only city like this, but in the u.k if you are caught urinating in a public place they will give you a fine, and so they should!

|||

I had to chuckle at this.

Well - I am sure that most bus stations around the world are seedy at the best of times. You shouldn%26#39;t tar the rest of the place with the same brush, though. Have you ever been to Holesovice station in Prague?

This is certainly not true of the rest of the city! In over 15 years I have never experienced anything like you describe. It is spotless in comparison with most places in the UK, for example.

The picture you paint is like something out of a Bosch painting! I%26#39;ll have to pass this on to some of my friends and tell them to stop p***ing on the pavement so much so as to avoid unnecessary offence in future :)

Re vd100%26#39;s comment on spitting and urinating - in Singapore, they%26#39;ll cane you! just kidding! you%26#39;ll get a fine.
