Stayed in the Archibald Hotel at Charles Bridge. Wow!!! what a spot. Location Location Location. 1 minute walk from Charles Bridge, this hotel is ideally located between the old town, and the Prague castle area. It%26#39;s an ideal base to explore Prague on foot. The Na Kampa island that the hotel is on, is very quiet yet only minutes walk from the busy bridge and associated streets. Anyway enough about that. Highly recommend it. We got a great room on the top floor and overlooking the bridge. Wonderfully romantic. And we even got some snow on the 3rd day ;) I posted a review with some pics that should be up shortly.
Oh yeah, gotta tell you this guys, I had originally booked with http://milmark.cz/ this crowd. but the price increased on the website the day after I had booked? I emailed to check the price and was told it was a mistake and the prices would be changing back. I decided to cancel and book with someone else with a proven reputation, just in case. I booked with Prague Airport Shuttle after reading reviews on here. www.prague-airport-shuttle.com/index.htm and it has to be said, these guys are brilliant. Luckily I booked under my girlfriends name, because the milmark crowd were still there in the arrivals hall with my name even though I clearly advised them I was cancelling my order (3 weeks notice!!). They then also rang the hotel during my stay to advise they would pick me up?!?! Talk about hawking for business. I had to email them again and very clearly advise them I did not need their services thank you very much. Anyway, thanks to the guys at Prague Airport Shuttle. The drivers were very friendly, professional, and informative and added to the overall enjoyment of the trip. I would highly recommend them and will use them again on my next trip. Top marks.
Regarding Prague, if there%26#39;s one thing I recommend you should do, its go up the Old town hall on the old town square. That%26#39;s the clock tower that the astronomical clock is on. The entrance to the tower is through the adjacent tourist information office. Not very easy to find if you don%26#39;t know! 70 CZK gets you to the top. and there is not 500 steps up as you%26#39;d expect but a nice glass elevator! The views from the top are spectacular!! all the way form the TV tower to petrin hill, to the castle... beautiful!! I went up twice! :) :)

Hello Mcgon - thanks for your report. Kampa is also my favourite part of Prague, specially during the winter time when it%26#39;s quiet and perhaps some snow on the ground. You might like to do a review of the Archibald hotel perhaps?
Also thanks for your comment on prague airport shuttle.com - they provide a very good reliable service and most of us are very happy to recommend them.
See you in Prague again? All the best, Penny

review is now up Penny! ;) plus 3 photos of the area. The park in Kampa was nicely covered with snow on saturday morning.. beautiful walk along the river up the the most Legii bridge, then along Narodni up the junction with Wenscles square area. Yep the guys at the airport shuttle deserve all credit they get. Thanks for the pre-trip advice guys. Was delighted that the prices were still very reasonable after my 7 year gap since my last trip. beautiful spot. will surely return.

Read it and marked appropriately! I passed the hotel a couple of months ago, no snow though, and went to a wedding reception in one of the restaurants just next door. It was lovely.

Thanks for the tip about the clock tower - have just added that on my list for my November trip
