Hello
I am trying to plan a visit to Prague for my partner%26#39;s 40th birthday. I have read numerous posts on here and looked at all the reviews and I%26#39;m still stuck!
Have decided that given our short stay (2 nights) we need to be central, but I would prefer quiet-ish so decided on Mala Strana side. With budget constraints I now have a hotel choice of either the Hotel William or Archibald at the Charles Bridge - any advice/suggestions about these two, or a similar alternative?
My second question is re: ATMs. I have read all the advice about taking out cash via ATMs instead of exchanging in advance - can anyone tell me if the cash machines accept cards with the Cirrus logo, and are the instructions on screen easy to understand?
Finally does anyone have any advice about booking hotels - either through booking agents e.g. Hotels.com, Last Minute etc., or direct with the hotel? Usually I would book with the hotel, in this case it looks like I might get a better deal with an agent - does anyone know which ones are better - I%26#39;ve read a few horror stories about overbooking!!
Sorry for such a long post, but thought it was easier to do it all in one go! Mind you I%26#39;ll probably think of several more questions now! However, I won%26#39;t ask about transport from the airport - already decided to book shuttle with prague-airport-shuttle.com thanks to earlier posts on the forum.
Thanks for reading :)

Hello haflinger
Good choice regarding the airport transfer, a very reliable service.
Your debit card will be OK to use, all ATMs that I%26#39;ve seen have English instructions, so very easy to navigate. There are about 3 or 4 ATMs in the arrivals hall at the airport and all over the town.
As regards the hotels, I have not stayed in any of those mentioned, however, only very recently we had a very good report on Archibald. Another hotel in Mala Strana which has been recommended a number of times is the Golden Well, perhaps you%26#39;d like to have a look at some of the reviews.
I don%26#39;t use agents for my bookings, but Hotel.com, Expedia are fine. Also yeego has been recommended
previously. Just compare the sites.

Good hunting. Penny

Thanks Penny,
It%26#39;s a relief to know that there are English instructions on the ATMs. I sure the recent review on the Archibald, which has made it my current first choice, but I%26#39;ll have a look at the Golden Well too. Must make my mind up soon - we%26#39;re going on the 18th!
Thanks again, Sara

Thanks all,
Pivo - that was what we thought about the Archibald,so it was great to have it confirmed by a local, and as they say %26#39;location, location, location%26#39;, so have decided to book it:)
Sue - thanks for the cirrus info. We go in two weeks (on the 18th), perhaps we%26#39;ll be there at the same time?
While I%26#39;m here - has anyone eaten at the Archibald at Charles Bridge restaurant - is it any good?
