Staropramen Brewery tour

Hi there, Me and the wife will be going to stay at the Andels hotel for a long weekend for valentines, and I see that the Staropramen brewery is only around the corner. I looked on the website but cant see if it is open this time of year or its opening times. Any help would be gratefully recieved.

P.s Have read the threads on the Bud and Pilsner U trips but i dont think she will wear it not with the travelling etc involved

I looked into the trip myself and the reviews i found were not great. I%26#39;ll be heading down to the Pilsner myself. But is open as far as i know. Maybe you can get the wife to go with you to Pilsen too. There are lots of other things to do and see there. Tread carefully lol!

Looks like you need to reserve the tour. But I believe that Prague pivo expert pivero does not recomment this trip.

To get more info search for Staroprament Brewery Tour in the above box.

I did the Staropramen tour about 6 years ago,but believe it has recently changed ( it is very Industrial). If you do a search on the TA site for info on the tour it may be there.

The Newtown brewery is a good place and the beer excellent, but i was very dissapointed with the food last time I was in.It does cater for larger groups and maybe the food reflects this.

there are sevral other places and you can see them all on this list.

Four of us did the Staropramen tour in Oct 2007. At that time you had to reserve the tour via email. We thought the tour rather bogus and nothing to write home about, and would not do it again. They also hustle you out the door shortly after the conclusion of the tour. (One can only assume they don%26#39;t want you to drink too much of the free beer) In short, take the advice of the Prague experts and go somewhere else for your tour(s)

I%26#39;ve said it here many times. A much better alternative to the Staroprmaen tour is Ferdinand, in Benešov. A much nicer brewery, that still uses open fermenters and makes MUCH better beers than the Smíchov monster.

It is really easy to get to Benešov, there are regular trains and buses from Prague that will take you there in less than one hour. There are guided visits, but I don%26#39;t know how it works, the website is http://www.pivovarferdinand.cz/an/english.htm

And if you need something to convince the missus, then you can show her this page http://www.zamek-konopiste.cz/en/ Konopiště is one of the most beautiful castles here. Unfortunately, there aren%26#39;t any guided tours during winter, but I think the gardens are open, though you may want to check that one out.

Na Zdraví!
