I booked tickets to the opera and just wanted to ask if it is ok to wear jeans and a jumper, i.e. something casual? Or is it essential to dress up? We are only going for a few days and would prefer not to bring an extra outfit for just one night as we like to travel as light as possible.

Smat as you like. Minimum smart casual. Avoid jeans and trainers.

You might feel a bit out of place otherwise - most Czechs will wear a suit at the very least.

Ive seen all sorts of people at the Opera, from the oens that go dressed like to a gala ball to people that come in jeans, the latter, tourists. Smart casual is fine if you don%26#39;t want to feel like a scruffy backpacker.

jeans in Texas, understandble...jeans in an opera house in Europe-out of the question, IMO

yeah, I wouldn%26#39;t go in jeans myself. Slacks or black trousers with a shirt and shoes minimum I would think.
