What to do and where to eat three days in Prague

We will spend threee days in Prague this Christmas. We have never been in Prague before, and we dont expect to see %26quot;everything%26quot; there is to see - but we are very interested in som suggestion for the best to see in those three days - without getting to exhausted...

We even want som suggestion for good restaurants - quality of food and good athmosphere is more important than the price (not meening that we will pay thousands of euros...).

Some suggestions

Spend a day in the Old Town area. Have a look at Powder Tower, Obecni Dum, Estates Theatre, Wenceslas Square, Old Town Square, Old Town Hall and the Jewish Quarter. Stop off at the Old town square for hot chocolate or mulled wine or whatever you like.

Visit Prague Castle, St Nicholas Church, Mala Strana, Petrin Hill and Charles Bridge.

And on one of the evenings go up to the roof terrace at the U Prince hotel on Old town square at dusk and have cocktails ,it is magical.

For somewhere to eat while you are walking around you will come across many restaurants ,have a look at their menus and see if anything suits you.

the Royal Road is an absolute must. Start from the Powder Tower (Powder Gate) and end in the Prague Castle.

What kind of budget are you looking at for your meals? Mrs Vax and I went to Le Grill on Saturday night after the Opera - it was pretty good, but not cheap.

Cafe Savoy is a good, casual place for a meal.

Kogo at Havelska (more intimate) or Slovansky Dum (open kitchen/more energy) you can get Italian/Med.

Aromi for Italian. Nearby is Ambiente on Manesova for steaks, wings and ribs.

Celnice, Olympia, or Kolkovna for Czech.

Glad to pass on some restuarants, we were given some great suggestions. However when we tried to explore on our own we paid for it so you have to be careful because there are a lot of tourist traps.

U Provaznice - Very good local Czech food and atmosphere at a reasonable price in the center which is hard to find

Kolkovna - Hard to get a table and the service was definitely without a smile but the duck there was excellent and huge portions

La Bodeguita - Fun Cuban/Spanish place with live music and atmosphere, food was very tasty but not that cheap

Cafe Savoy - Went here for late breakfast so I guess you can say brunch and was excellent, beautiful interior so not to be missed
