My husband and I will be travelling to Prague in July for a business/pleasure trip for 1 week. Many of the city highlights are included in this stay and we will be staying at the Intercontinental Hotel.
We are thinking of going one week earlier to tour perhaps Vienna, Salzburg or other highlights not too far away.
We can purchase tours through the tour company arranging the business travel, but they are bus tours and not sure if we want to do that. They offer tours to Vienna/Salzburg/Budapest or Dubrovnik and the surrounding beach area.
Perhaps a rail pass? Where we can visit a few cities-We are in our early 40%26#39;s and love to travel but like a decent hotel to lay our heads at the end of the night.
Thanks you in advance!
Keri
Any suggestions would be welcome! I have never been to Europe before!

I think as far as info on hotels for your trip to
Vienna and Salzburg you would be best off posting on those forums themselves .

I would highly recommend spending more time in the Czech Republic. There are many superb castles, the lovely town of Cesky Krumlov, Kutna Hora (and the bone church at Sedlec), Olomouc, etc. Not to mention the gorgeous countryside (i.e. Cesky Raj region).
The CR is very, very easy to navigate and drive in so I suggest renting a car before or after to explore.
Europe is incredible - I%26#39;m sure you will want to return again and again. It is very easy to get hooked and addicted to European travel! :-)

... and although Vienna and Salzburg may look close on the map, in reality they are quite a way away and you would need to spend at least a couple of days in each.
You won%26#39;t need a rail pass in the Czech Republic as the train tickets can be bought on the day of departure and the prices are very reasonable.
