Hi, I am going out to pargue to finalise my wedding arrangements (getting married there in July this year). Last time we went and when we organised the wedding the pound was much stronger. We took Euros, however when we paid for things in Euros we go the czech currency back. I found this really hard to follow and keep track of if i was getting the correct amount back.
Given the currency at the min - can anyone advise what i would be best getting currency wise Euros or czech? Also am going in Feb what sort or weather will it be(i know it will be cold but will it be snow?) Want to make sure have suitable clothes!!!!
Thanks for any help.

Hi, please do not bring Euros, this country uses the Czech koruna. Use the cashpoints at the airport and in the city. Cold for sure, dunno about snow.

Imagine if people came to Newcastle with Euros? It would have the same reaction.
Please read all the other posts about exactly this that are around at the moment.

Thanks for your help
GCEK - I will check the for other posts. The reason I posted this question is that Travel Agents over here often reccomend Euros. The reaction you talk about is slightly different as unlike in Czech and other places in Europe we do not quote or accept Euros over here. If you go to a restaurant you will have the prices quoted only in pounds. Every retaurant, bar, hotel etc.. when i was last in Prague accepted either currency- hence the reason for my question. If i could save some money by using one or the other currency i would.

I think some branches of M+S accept Euros in the UK, and there are plenty of places in London that do as well but anyway - the exchange rate is no good (whether in London or Prague), and always in their favour, so avoid places that price things in Euros. You will always save money by paying in local currency (Czech Crowns). The travel agents are talking rubbish :)

Thanks - Has been years since been to London or M%26amp;S so didnt know this - you learn something new everyday%26quot;!!! , GCEK we are going to get enough money for first night as we arrive late and to pay taxi do you think 2500 crowns would be appropriate for a snack couple of drinks and a taxi or would we need more. The following day we will then use ATM machine. We are only having a short trip arriving late night of 18th of Feb and returning late night of 20th. Or as we are going to have to get some money out for taxi would we better just getting enought crowns to last the 2 days rather than then paying ATM exchange rates? Find all this exchange rates horribly confusing. We are stayin in Hotel Certovska so is their an ATM nearby?
Thanks

I reckon 2500 should last you a couple of days easily - I don%26#39;t know what your tastes are! If you look at some of the advice in other threads about getting a taxi into Prague it should cost you about 600 Crowns, or you could get the bus/metro for 28 Crowns/ Then with beers at c. 30 Crowns each, and a VERY decent meal at say 800 Crowns for the both of you (I would pay less, but if you are a first timer you don%26#39;t want to be bothered with traipsing around trying to find a good deal :) ).
As for the exchange rate, just divide everything by 3 and take off a couple of zeros, i.e. 2500 = c. £85. That should keep you going for a while in the UK as well!
There are cashpoints everywhere, just like at home, maybe even more so.
Enjoy yourselves, and don%26#39;t worry!
