Dress code in wellness centres ?

Can anyone give me advance of what the dress code is in saunas / steam rooms etc of hotels in Prague ?? Is it the same as Germany / Netherlands for example ?

of course, did you think here would be a different dress code? Prague is not famous for saunas and related facilities so that i doubt you will find there other people than tourists, anyway.

:)

If it%26#39;s just tourists, I doubt the dress code will be the same as Germany %26amp; Austria, which is go naked.

Can someone please advise what is the dress code in Prague %26amp; Cz? I don%26#39;t think the first reply is clear.

It is an important point, don%26#39;t want to dive into a sauna butt naked when everyone has trunks and visa versa, though I guess it%26#39;s less embarrasing to have trunks on. :-)

If in doubt, wear them and if you are odd, remove them.

I would be interested to know the etiquete.

Thanks stoofer ! I am used to Germany, Holland, but just because they normally go the nude route does%26#39;nt mean that if they were in for example the U.K. that the same principle applies ! Imagine !!

We will be there as a couple and whilst I%26#39;ve no bother in being temporarily embarrased should I be the odd one out, my wife would sure like to know before hand ! No bother for her to be nude in the sauna or whatever, but she%26#39;s hell as like going to be the only one !!!

ok, i will ask one of my students who happens to be a passionate fan of saunas and this kind of stuff and i%26#39;ll post it herein.

Yes, it%26#39;s a strangely sensitive issue in UK, and IME Europe as a whole due to more people travelling, offence can be caused.

It%26#39;s actually quite serious because in England you could easily be arrested for going nude in a sauna and I%26#39;ve seen Brit families very upset when abroad and confronted by nudity. Europe is very diverse on this subject, I%26#39;ve also seen Cypriots trying to lynch a tourist for going naked on the beach, and I can only imagine what some middle eastern folk feel like when they stumble across nudists.

When I was in Austria last year, I asked our hotel manager what to wear and he was shocked that I was concerned until I told him about laws in England.

And he told me that I could cause offence by wearing trunks when nobody else was, so it is complicated.

So now, I always wear them, and if I%26#39;m the only one, I then remove them.

So perhaps someone will say was is correct in CZ.

Too sensitive if you ask me stoofer !

Personally speaking ( as might be hinted by my name here ! ) I prefer the european way - however, I would%26#39;nt like to just ramble in to the sauna in my birthday suit ( after telling my wife that this is whats the norm here ) to find everyone in their trunks and bikini or whatever - my wife would kill me !! If it was even a mix - well that would be ok, but I suspect that in that case it would be mostly the men that would be %26quot;european%26quot; style !????

Sorry about this - I thought it would be a simple one line answer to my origional question - apparantly it%26#39;s not so straightforward in CZ as in Holland etc !

On the second thought i remember the last time I was in a sauna (one hotel just outside of Prague) was 5-6 years ago. Then I was also in the Liberec Auquapark%26#39;s sauna and never took my swimsuit off and never seen anyone butt naked. Strange I have never thought about it and I bet it%26#39;s about the same as everywhere else in Prague and CZ - its socially unacceptable to come in a sauna naked or sit there naked unless in and during designated places and specific events. I even remember spotting prohibition signs related to this issue.

Contrary to that, there are is a specific day a week in the Liberec aquapark for nudists only, when swimsuits are not allowed.

In the CZ the safest bet then is to take and keep your trunks on.

BTW, i have done the sauna bit also in Australia (Sydney) and the rules are about the same in CZ. You cannot compare CZ with Holland - however we (Czechs) play being liberal the latter country is a hell more liberal.

all good

I%26#39;ve done the sauna bit at home made back garden in Orlicke Hory. And I can tell you, anything goes LOL

Thanks for getting back, Jirikoo

Then it%26#39;s the same as UK.

Tannedbum, keep that tanned bum hidden, keep yer pants on! :-)
