You%26#39;d need to register first, and don%26#39;t think it is possible to buy tickets more than 60 days ahead.
But there is no need to buy tickets in advance, the trains are never full, so just buy it on the day or anytime you are in Prague. The cost would be roughly 30 euros.

just back from prague. but we took bus from vienna to prague. i bought the euroline ticket through their website and it was an offer ticket which cost 480czk (about 19 euros) for 2 pax, much cheaper. may be u can try the euroline, not bad.

George,
the 2nd class ticket price from Prague to Vienna is around 48 euros. But you might be able to get a discount or special pricing ticket once you are in Prague.
Try the DB Bahn site to enter your data and see what train times and how many stops are available for that route.
You can purchase the tickets from DB Bahn agents by phone if you don%26#39;t want to wait until you get to Prague.
Spend some time researching the prices and you will save some money. There is a site called the man in seat61 that has loads of train travel information.
Have a great trip...we did it going the opposite way a few years ago. The scenery is great but then I do love to travel by train!!

If you buy it on-line (easy to do here https://eshop.cd.cz/international/search_cd-obb.aspx?lang=E), then it only cost 538 Crowns/19 Euros for the express trains, or slightly more for the %26#39;pendolino super-city%26#39; trains. You can do this a week before you go - it is not common for people to buy tickets on-line in this part of the world so the discounted tickets don%26#39;t sell out that quickly, but you can do it longer in advance if you so wish - as Penny says, the maximum is 60 days in advance.
Otherwise, if you buy on the day it will cost you 38 Euros (I think Martha made a bit of a keyslip - unless she is talking about the Super-city) - no need to go through DB as it will cost the same with them (if it is at all possible through them).
The above link will give you all the times you need, or if you want a more in-depth look, then www.idos.cz (in English as well).
It is very straight-forward, and no need to rush. These trains do not sell out.

GCEK,
this is a terrific site for train travel tickets! Thank you for the link. This makes life a whole lot simpler for my family when travelling to and from Prague.

From Vienna the prices are different, and you have to buy them through www.oebb.at - I think to Prague it is 29 Crowns oebb.at/pv/…index.jsp

Thanks for the valueable information.
I think you should add the train site information to the destination page along with the 60 day window.
The only option I found was 2nd class tickets with reseravtions.
Are reservation mandatory?
Are there first class seats?
Can I find discounts anywhere else?

Yes - this page is only for 2nd class with reservation. First class costs a lot more (about 60 Euros) for not much difference in comfort - you just get a bit more space, and you have to buy the tickets on the day. Reservation is not mandatory, as these trains do not %26#39;sell out%26#39;, but you just happen to get one with this on-line ticket. You can actually sit where you like when you get on the train. I like to go straight to the restaurant car and get a VERY slow coffee, which is quite pleasant. I also like to set up office in there and plug the laptop in the wall - they don%26#39;t tend to shoo you on if you do that, as long as you get refreshments (not expensive ones) every so often.
This is a typical train composition on this route www.vagonweb.cz/razeni/vlak.php… - click on %26#39;foto%26#39; for some interior images. Second class is, if anything, more comfortable than first (the last carriage). First is more a prestige thing than anything else :)
Discounts are not available anywhere else - in fact this is the only place that I know where you can get discount tickets, other than at the station before departure (if you are lucky and they haven%26#39;t all gone - there are about 20 available per train). Rail Europe also sell tickets, but charge you handsomely for the (dis)pleasure of using their site :)
Enjoy!

Thanks for all the information
Again I would add some of this information to the prague guide.
