i am travelling to prague from paris 19th april and need help with getting there. i have looked at raileurope but with the cost being so expensive was wondering if there is a cheaper alternative. looked at jizdnirady.idnes.cz but not sure of the price per ticket. looked at the flying option with wizz air but about the same price as the train. any help with information will be much appreciated.

Raileurope is the most expensive way of booking train tickets there is as they charge a hefty premium. Even so, going by train from Prague to Paris is not that straightforward, and flying is the easiest and cheapest. Look at all the alternatives - In addition to Wizzair there are Smart Wings, Air France and Czech Airlines (CSA), and between them there is bound to be a good price, especially if you book far enough in advance.

thank-you for sending the information to me. i will look up the airlines and take it from there. sounds like it is the the better option and it means i might be lucky and get to see the easter festival if i arrive in prague before evening. i will have 7 nights and was thinking of spending most of the time in prague with a couple of day trips by train. not sure between karlstein castle, dresden, karlsbad, and kutna hora. all different but if you were limited with time what would you do? i leave prague (by bus i think) to cesky krumlov for 1 night then (lobo shuttle) to salzburg so will save trip south until leaving. thanks for any further help.

Also Sky Europe www.skyeurope.com fly that route, but they are going through a couple of difficulties at the moment.
If I had to choose one of those places, and taking your criteria into account, I would go to Kutna Hora - it is the easiest, cheapest and quickest to get to and you must not miss the bone church in Sedlec. It is 1 hour by train.
Enjoy!

I would go with Smart Wings or Brussels Airlines, they both leave from CDG vs. Beauvais.

Brussels Airlines do not fly directly to Prague, but Smart Wings is certainly an option. The current price for 19th April is 95 Euros and they fly from CDG.

thanks to all for your help and information. smart wings is certainly the cheapest option but if i worked the times out right the only flight arrived in prague at 23.00 and because we are staying in an apartment was not sure about getting hold of the key at this hour, so thinking now of coming through switzerland, and austria staying 3nights in each place and into prague by train via cesky krumlov, 1or 2 nights?
was originally going to do it the other way around but am very flexible with plans and itinery. from prague we will travel down to croatia.

oops! meant itinerary.

It is not the easiest coming in through Cesky Krumlov, by train anyway. Contact this company www.shuttlelobo.cz/… - they will pick you up from Linz and it will save you making a couple of train changes.
BTW Linz is a great place and is European Capital of Culture this year, so you might want to check it out while you are there.

... and how do you intend travelling to Croatia from Prague? Flying would be your best option there as well, although you could get the bus (takes a long time, though).

thanks for continued information GCEK. much appreciated. will look into linz. saw it mentioned a few times so will do some research. i thought of catching the train down into croatia. have not worked it out yet except that it takes about 8 hrs to budapest and about 5.30hrs to zagreb. thought an overnight train would be good if there is one. i could fly but don%26#39;t love the idea of airports and all that is involved, check in etc, but i guess it saves travelling time in the long run. i am open to suggestion. thanks again.
