Hello,
I%26#39;m sure this question is truly a matter of personal choice, but I will ask anyway. We are debating between visiting Prague or Budapest this summer. Is one more cost effective than the other?

Not much in it in my opinion, but Prague has a mass tourist market in a more compact area, it is full of overpriced tourist traps. Using this forum will help identify the better places.
Budapest has become more tourism orientated but it%26#39;s still much easier to spend less. You will probably spend less overall in Budapest.
How long is your visit? Coming all the way from Toronto I%26#39;d advise doing both and linking by rail, totally different cities, both great to visit.
Prague probably offers more of the instant WOW factor.

I would agree with Stoofer, if you are coming all this way, might as well visit both cities. I%26#39;ve always found Budapest more expensive than Prague, but that%26#39;s probably due to not knowing which are not the rip off places, whilst with Prague I am familiar.

My experience was that food and drink in Prague was less expensive than Budapest. We booked a package through an agent so hard to say about exact accommodation pricing but when researching prior to our trip before using an agent I found that Budapest accommodations were cheaper than Prague. I guess all in all they probably even out in the end.

they are on par, another vote for visiting both.

My husband and I just returned from visiting both cities. We would also suggest going to both, but if time doesn%26#39;t permit....go to Prague. We found Prague a bit more charming and didn%26#39;t really see a big price difference in the two cities. If you go to Prague, eat at Bar Bar (www.bar-bar.cz). We couldn%26#39;t believe they could serve such outstanding and creative food at such low prices.
