organised excursions

what is the best company to use for excursions and what are the excursions that are well worth doing.

I%26#39;m a believer in DIY excursions, it%26#39;s cheaper and more flexible. To that end I have never been on an organised excursion and cannot vouch for any company.

However the two firms that you cannot help but see around town with their numerous kiosks are Martin Tour and Preminant. One assumes their market share is based on them delivering a quality service over the years but maybe others can comment.

Also frequently mentioned on this forum is Prague Experience.

We should give a little bit more complete list to be just. There are also Best tour www.besttour.cz , Prague sightseeing tours www.pstours.cz , Greyline www.citytours.cz and Top tour www.praguetoptour.cz , which are very similar to Martin tour www.martintour.cz and Premiant www.premiant.cz , thats groups from 5 to 20 visitors per tour. Obviously more in summer than in winter. They have a long tradition and ordinary services.

The other category is of smaller agencies that put you into group of max 10 people or many times it is just you for the tour and the quality of services is standard - like the first category. These are for example CA Karlos tour www.prague-city-tour.cz , Prague Lights www.praguelights.cz or Martin Hanzlicek www.pragaconguia.com .

The third option is to hire an individual guide, for example www.guidingprague.com , www.guide-prague.cz - there you get fine individual approach but you have to book you guide in advance.

Good luck!

I am more of a DIY excursion person but I have used Martin Tours and Prague Experince for day trips in the past,I have also used Prague City walks for a beer tour, all companies have been very good with a high degree of profesionalism.

come on, Prague%26#39;s city is not huge and has quite efficient public transport so you need no agency to get around. Dont be like other tourists who dont get off their glassed-in bus.

Going out of city? Take a train or bus. www.idos.cz

I think you would be best advised to stick with the trusted and reliable Prague Experience. Many people have used them and found them good

Also they%26#39;ve been in business for quite sometime unlike some of the above mentioned companies.

Thank you all for your help and info , thats plenty of options too choose from, will probably give pragueexperience a bash for the odd excursion and also do some of my own.

These organised tours are the same everywhere. I would suggest you book a private guide for half a day, he or she can give you so much info and can help you make a tailor-made plan for your trip - it is well worth the money.

Do you know anything about Ljuba Poleva or her agency? She is poleva.guide-prague.cz or legacytours.net. Both places are housed at Kaprova, 13, Prague 1. How much should a private Prague tour cost for 2 people? Is 1300 CZK (~$65) per hour a bit much? Thanks.

What an awesome tour of Jewish Prague was with Ljuba! Her husband gave us an overview tour of the city together with the Karlstejn Castle - Thanks a lot to both of you! Legacy tours rule!!!!

I%26#39;ve been multiple times to Prague and always use the same guide company. Only have had great excursions and trips with them.

Also the business arrangement has been tried there.

In addition to the list in an earlier reply, I want to add the following company:

Not sure, but think you even get 20% discount these days.

Have a pleasant trip!
