bohemian switzerland

does anyone know how far the hike is from janov to pravcicka brana and also is there a website that has the hiking trails shown thankyou

|||

It%26#39;s about 9 kilometres shorter way or 11 km longer way.

You can see a map at www.mapy.cz .

Write %26quot;pravcicka brana%26quot; and press the button %26quot;Hledej%26quot;.

Number 2 is what you want, number 1 is a hotel.

In the upper left corner of the map are four buttons:

Základní (basic), Turistická (touristic - this is what you want, it shows the contour lines), Fotomapa (photographic view from a plane), Další mapy (other maps, which are Historická - historic and older Fotomapa).

Click on Turistická and tick %26quot;Turistické trasy%26quot; for displaying the hiking trails, %26quot;Cyklostezky%26quot; for biking trails (Stínování - shadowing the mountains, Fotografie - photos of some places).

You can measure the distance with %26quot;Měření%26quot;.

If you want a paper map, you should ask for pedestrian tourist map nr 12 %26quot;NP České a Saské Švýcarsko%26quot; (NP - Národní park), the ratio scale is 1:50 000.

The hiking trails in the terrain are very well marked by several types of signs. The signs are painted and restored by volunteers from Czech tourist club. Short explanation is on their main site http://www.kct.cz/ , where you can download a pdf with English+Deutsch+Francais explanation.

And here www.kct.cz/index.php… is explanation in Czech with the signs. The most common is that in upper left corner %26quot;Pásová značka%26quot; (btw I haven%26#39;t heard this term before) and the arrow %26quot;Šipka%26quot;, there are four colours - red, yellow, blue and green.

You can also meet the %26quot;Značka naučné stezky%26quot; sign, which is only green and in the map it is represented by green dashed line. It%26#39;s a circular trial with information tables about the nature and other important things.

Four photos of signs in the terrain:

…banda.cz/galerie/… .

Have a nice time in Czech republic.
