Petrin Hill

Am I right in thinking that the tower at the top of Petrin Hill is open only weekends during the winter? We walked there from the Castle last February and it was closed (but seem to remember it said it was open at weekends) but we are returning to our favourite city next month and will be there during the weekend on this occasion. Thank you

that%26#39;s what is says - weekends only during the winter months. So this time you are lucky!

Thanks, can%26#39;t wait to go back!

Have a great time, hope the weather is good to you!

Don%26#39;t forget the museum to Jara Cimrman while you are there - he was the greatest Czech of all time and built the Eiffel Tower, invented dynamite, yoghurt and lightbulbs, and was the first man to reach the North Pole, although he missed the actual spot by only seven metres so the event was never recorded.

and did he not also open a hospoda na mytince so that he is not bothered by any customers? Or is that someone else?

He could well have done, as he achieved so much in his tragically short life (although nobody knows whether he has died or not). What is for sure, his non-alcoholic wine bar %26#39;U Pavouka%26#39; was a roaring success.

Also, if this one interests you, don%26#39;t forget to make a pilgrimage to Liptákov v Jizerských Horách to see the house where he was born which contains a highly moving display of his left galosh.
