Currency exchange

Going to Prague in January from London and am seeking advice on wheter to exchange my money asap or wait until I get over there. Any advice?

|||

I would wait and just use the ATM%26#39;s,always a better exchange rate that way.Just let your bank know that you are travellling to Prague.

|||

Wait until you get to Prague and use the ATM in the airport, you won%26#39;t need any local currency on the way from the aircraft to the arrivals hall,they are just on the left hand side as you exit the hall.

Do not use the exchange kiosks in the city - they are ripoffs. Always go to a bank (směnárna - exchange)I always use the bank opposite the clock on the Old town Square or the one on Na Prikope by the Powder tower, Failing that use an ATM there are many all over the city.

we got a better rate in uk before we left beginning december..(29ck to £)

but we planned to change money in prague as well believing there wasn%26#39;t much in it.

we were so wrong!

every other shop is a money exchange but offering terrible rates.

THE ONLY PLACE we found was a JEWELLRY SHOP on the charles bridge (on the castle side) which gave us 28ck to £ - for any amount changed up...

in contrast the exchange shops, (%26amp; we tried plenty) wanted to give us 22ck to £ with slightly better rate if changing more than £400

the ATM%26#39;s are a safe bet.

It is not a good idea to change money in shops also if you had checked on here before your trip you would have been advised against changing money anywhere other than banks or ATMs . There are also a lot of previous threads where people have been ripped off due to not coming on here to check where to get the best deals.

Its not only the Prague exchange offices that are a rip-off. When I landed at Luton airport just before Xmas I noticed the exchange rate was 33Kč for buying pounds and 23Kč for buying crowns. A huge spread.

|||

to conlude this, shop around and compare rates before headlessly heading to a first exchange kiosk

|||

Going to be going in mid january and with the drop in the pound was wondering if better exchanging now. I also have some euro left over but think you have to exchange to sterling before they change it again to koruna. Any suggestions

If you want to use your euros, I would wait and change them to Czech Crowns in Prague (banks preferably)
