Good Restaurants for Smokers

I%26#39;m not a smoker but my girlfriend is. So, I was curious as to what some of the good restaurants in Prague that allow smoking.

Please no health rants. We%26#39;re all adults here. =)

Here%26#39;s my list so far:

Smoking Allowed:

-Kampa Park

-V Zatisi

-Kogo

-Pravda

Smoking Not Allowed:

-Mlynec

-Flambee

Thanks!

Even though many restaurants will allow smoking, some will not allow you to smoke during the main meal serving times (i.e. lunchtime and dinner) - if enforced, restaurants will advertise these times, either on the wall or on the menu. If there is not an ashtray on the table, it might be a sign that that is just one of those times.

It is best to ask the waiter before you start.

Non-smoking is getting more and more prevalent, though, especially in the more expensive restaurants, both for health, cost and loss of business reasons - many of your fellow countrypeople are not too keen on it, and also for those of us from countries where it is outlawed it can be a bit of a shock to the system!

However, you will find no shortage of places, other than the places listed above, where smoking is engaged in enthusiastically - in fact one of the signs of an excellent pub with the best beer is copious clouds of smoke and yellow walls, so don%26#39;t just go with the guidebook recommendations as they will inevitably omit such places :)

Happy smoking!

The basic rule is, if there is an ashtray on the table, then it%26#39;s allowed to smoke, regardless of the time.

Of course, if you happen to be sharing the table with someone who isn%26#39;t smoking at the moment, it is polite to ask. In most cases you%26#39;ll get an affirmative answer.

The way things are going, it seems that a smoking ban in restaurants is on its whay. Which would be a pity. Im a non-smoker, I love non-smoking places or places where non-smoking areas are properly separated. But I want that to remain a choice of restaurant owners and patrons, not of a government.

Most restaurants allow smoking. The Zatisi Group does not really, i.e. in V Zatisi you can smoke by the bar, not in the restaurant (that should not keep you from going, it is ewxcellent).

But the is the exception to the role here in Prague; you can smoke whenever you want in a restaurant that allows smoking, even during the meal.

Hi Martina,

I%26#39;ve actually been to V Zatisi twice this month (once with a smoker and once without) and smoking at the table certainly wasn%26#39;t a problem.

Granted, it was in the back room, but the staff didn%26#39;t blink when asked.

We can add %26quot;David Restaurant%26quot; to the list of non-smoking places too.

This is a more difficult search than I thought!

Allegro has a smoking section for breakfast and lunch but is only non-smoking at dinner.

dps10, if the demand for smoking tables at Zatisi is big enough, then they open the last small room for smokers. But don%26#39;t count on it.

|||

Aromi allows for smoking too.

As does La Provence. I think all of the Kampa Group restaurants have smoking tables.

I hope the Czech Government thinks very carefully about any kind of smoking restrictions. Look what has happened in England. The draconian smoking ban there is closing 4 pubs a day!

I visit Prague about 3 times a year, will be there next week. I enjoy the relaxed attitude to smoking but have noticed more restaurants becoming non smoking. While I respect their decision, I will not visit them again. It would have been better if they had provided smoking and non smoking areas.

Let%26#39;s hope the Czech Republic retains it%26#39;s freedom to choose.
