Public transport to The Charles Hotel

Hi All,

Thank you for all the great advice I have been reading over the last few months!

I have a specific question about directions and cost/buying tickets to get to The Charles Hotel Josefska 1, Mala Strana, from the airport, we arrive mid-morning so I really feel like taking the time to adventure on public transport as an intro to Prague instead of the easy option door to door.

We arrive on Saturday in case this makes a difference to the route/running times - many thanks

Jazz

Take bus 119 and get out at the last stop - Dejvická (about 20 minutes ride, goes every 10 minutes).

Then you have 2 options:

Either 1) go directly to the underpass and take metro to Malostranská (2 stops, metro goes approx. every 5 minutes). From Malostranská go to your hotel by foot (approx. 600 m) or take tram 12, 20 or 22 and go 1 stop to Malostranské náměstí. The hotel is approx. 100 m from the stop.

Or 2) go approx. 300 m to another tram stop Vítězné náměstí and there take tram 20 and go to Malostranské náměstí. Go ahead till you come to traffic circle and then turn right (you will see the tramlines). The tram goes every 15 minutes and it comes to Malostranské náměstí after 11 min (5th stop).

Unfortunately there are some temporary transit restrictions in the Hradčanská area. They might not be included in the shedules on the sites above. But there are information tables with schemes and substitutive bus lines.

Sites of Prague Public Transport Company http://www.dpp.cz/en/ (Some info about restrictions is updated slowly than on the Czech version.)

For the ride described above you will need to buy transfer ticket - costs 26,- CZK per person (children 13,-). If you have enormous luggage you should also buy a ticket for it for 13,- CZK.

Don%26#39;t forget to validate your ticket immediatelly after you get in the bus. There are yellow (orange) boxes in the bus. Tickets are not valid unless they are stamped in the box. The ticket needs to be validated only once and is valid for 75 min (that for 26,-).

But if you will use public transport during your stay in Prague buy 1-day (24 h) ticket for 100 CZK or 5-days (120 h) ticket for 500 CZK.
