Hey!
I am off to Prague for a week at the end of March, it%26#39;s not really a big drinking trip but we would like to hit the pubs and clubs at night. The only problem is two of the guys in my party are big cider drinkers. Is there any pubs people can recomend that do either cider on tap or bottled?
As for me I%26#39;ll be on the Czech Lager so i wont have to worry! :P

Cider is available in all the British/Irish pubs but expect to pay a similar price to what you pay in the UK.

I better get them both on the Pilzen then!

I think you will find that the taste of the beer over in Prague is so much better that the cr*p we get served in Britain that they will quickly become converts, and as the local beer is so much cheaper than imported cider then the fiscal saving will also appeal to them.
What have you got planned for the week?
Can I suggest a day trip to Plzen to visit the brewery and brewing museum there, also several fine pubs to try out.About 90 minutes from Prague by train.
Just ask if you want more details.

Hey
Well we are heading out on a monday morning, so the first day we%26#39;ll be finding our feet, hiting the hotel then going down to the bars. For the rest of the week i was thinking about spending the days spending time in the old town, new town, castle etc then heading out on the beer in the evenings. On one of the days I want to head out to Kunta Hora (i think that is the right name) and see the Silver Mines and the Bone Church.

Thanks mate, that sounded like a good trip! Whats the public transport like? Because i have heard both good and bad stories about it.
|||
The stories are only bad if you don%26#39;t have a valid ticket and you are caught. Otherwise it is second to none, both within the city and to other places - Kutna Hora is an hour away by train and you can just buy the tickets at the main station before you leave - the timetables might have changed slightly since unclegus did his trip, so check on www.idos.cz for any updates (click on the English button and away you go!)
What bad things have you heard? I%26#39;d be interested to know that... :)
And I agree with the above - once your mates have tasted real beer there will be no going back, even to cider.

Yes the public transport is great, and train tickets easy to buy and very cheap compared to britain, worth paying a little extra for fisrt class if only to see the look on the backpackers faces as they are removed to second class.
this website will give you lots of info though they do mention the N023 tram ,i beleive that no longer runs.

What beer do you recomend?

All of it.that link i gave you Classic city brew list lots of great beerhall and the beers they provide, but there are several brewery pubs that make their own beer and is very good.
look for Kozel,Krosovice,Staropramen,Pilsner Urquell,Budvar, Radegast,Gambrinus and Bernard.they all have have various versions and should be clear on the bar menus, keep trying them till you find your favouite.
Have a look at this blog from a regular contributer to theis forum Pivero. It make very good reading.
